Our members come from a wide range of majors including psychology & social behavior, engineering, criminology, law & society, computer science, mathematics, philosophy, public health science, and more. They range from freshmen to senior levels and even include UCI alumni. Such diversity invokes varying perspectives, insight, and personal growth. We’ve bonded immensely by rendering ourselves vulnerable and sharing some of the most personal aspects of ourselves and our lives. Through our Facebook group, we remain connected on a daily basis by sharing quotes, videos, pictures, music, venting, and reaching out for help, which in particular is always met with acknowledgment by an impressive number of concerned students.

MEET OUR MEMBERS!

"Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this group. I am a fifth year PSB major. I am what is considered a "non-traditional student" or an "adult learner." I am probably older than most of you (I have an 18 year old daughter in community college!) but I am so happy and grateful to be finishing my bachelor's degree at this amazing university. I do have a lot of "life experiences," I have worked, been divorced, struggled in school and almost gave up on completing my education. I have learned it is not a weakness to ask for help. Especially at this school when there are so many resources available to us when we need them. I have enjoyed meeting my classmates in my PSB classes and I am looking forward to meeting the members of this group."

"My name is _____, and I'm a second year pharmaceutical sciences student here at UCI! I'll try to keep this introduction short, but I have to warn you that I tend to ramble when I write. Well, first of all, I want to say how excited I am to meet you guys and get to know you! I'm really impressed by the aim of this club- as someone that's dealt with anxiety and OCD for most of my life (and managed to find ways to cope and come out on top!), I can honestly say that the best help I've gotten is from other people's compassion. Being a huge science nerd (and the daughter of a biochemist), but also a lover of all things spiritual, understanding the biochemical roots of anxiety and OCD and using meditation, yoga, and exercise to overcome it have been imperative to me. If any of you are struggling with these issues, or others, please feel free to talk with me and let's see if we can come up with a plan to help you reclaim your life and positivity!"

"WHAT IT DO, WHAT IT DO? LOL....Whats up guys, I am _____. I am a new transfer to UCI, can't wait for school to start! I am a PSB major, I love to meet people, but sometimes I have a hard time making friends! I never get to "second base" with friends. I think it is because I used to not like going out and hanging out with people, but all that will change. So if you want to hang out with me, shoot me a FB message and I will be sure to answer. I am funny, but not in the I make jokes and you laugh kind of way...more of a I'm just being myself and that makes people laugh...if that makes any sense. I am very excited to meet you PEEPS! and make friends and learn from each other and be there for each other when times are tough and when they are great! Hmmmmm........oh yeah a quote, I like this one...."Remember today, for it is the beginning. Today marks the start of a brave new future."

"Hey you guys, I'm _____~ I transferred over to UCI as a PSB major from Mt. SAC last year so I'll be a senior this year. I spent most of my junior year just tryina adjust to the new campus so I'm really hoping to make the most out of my last year and meet even more wonderful people and just be more active. I'm really glad I came across NSA. I know how relieving and comforting it is to just have someone listen to you, hear out everything you have to say without judgment, and just be there to remind you that no matter how bad it gets and no matter what you're going through, there is someone who cares about you. So I would love to offer that same support and comfort to anyone that just needs a friend to listen to them. I'm really excited to meet everyone, have meaningful experiences, and create new memories."
